The exhibition presents photographs by 11 journalists contributing to the student weekly magazine ‘itd’: Krzysztof Pawela, Sławek Biegański, Andrzej Baturo, Maciej Osiecki, Anna Musiałówna, Maciej Musiał, Krzysztof Barański, Włodzimierz Pniewski, Harry Weinberg, Andrzej Polec and Stanisław Ciok.
Although their photographs are on a par with the best works in Humanist Photography, they are not widely known to the general public.
The time of the decline of the PRL and martial law was marked by important, spectacular events triggered by social movements contesting the existing political system. Both major events and everyday life were documented by photojournalists associated with the press for young readers, who also worked independently, contributing their own image of the Polish way of life. Owing to them, a varied, visually appealing and multi-dimensional record emerged.
