The book has been decided into two parts. The first one presents the history of discovery, conservation and research on the mural paintings of the medieval burghers’ houses, as well as the results of research on the style, iconography and functions of those murals. The second part consists of the catalogue of the murals, composed topographically according to the present addresses of the houses, considering the surviving artworks and the murals that have been covered back after being revealed, collected in the appendix.
The catalogue lists 28 burghers’ houses containing gothic murals, dating back to 14th to early-16th century, which includes some discoveries of 2016.
Polish text of the publication is followed by the English translation.
